The Ark Racing Display on the day, with Brian Austin, owner, centre

The second Willenhall Heritage Day and Collector's Fair took place on Saturday 21st April 2012 at the CHART Centre, Gomer Street, Willenhall, between 10am-4pm.  All the proceeds from the event will go to Willenhall Heritage Trust and there were a range of local items and businesses on display, along with a selection from the Hodson Clothing Collection (formerly of the Locksmith's House) courtousy of Walsall Museum Service, a model railway layout with a local theme along with displays and entertainment from local clubs, societies and groups.

There was also a 'getting started in Genealogy' workshop delivered by the descendant of a Willenhall Family (Louise De-Hayes, a direct descendant of the Longstaff family), and John Williams, local artist were in attendance.

There were updates on the Locksmiths' House and the Bell Inn and the results of the Images of Willenhall photographic competition, which was won by John Parry, runner up Stan Warner. 300 plus attendees took part in the day and with children's quizzes, raffles a tombola and other competitions, plus entertainment and attractions - making it a real day out for all the family and the entrance fee of £1 per adult, children free. Another display featured a racing car designed and built in Willenhall by Ark Racing - please see the document below for details, which was kindly displayed by Brian Austin, the car's owner and member of Willenhall Heritage Trust. We had around 45 stallholders in attendance and the diversity of the displays was astounding. If you missed it, watch out for future events detailed here, or apply for membership at membersofwht@btinternet.com .
